Getting started with a restaurant or bar
Set up outlets, tables and your menu so staff can take their first order.
Updated 26 September 2026
Counter works on its own for a restaurant, bar or lounge with no rooms. If you also run a hotel, set up Lodge first, then follow these steps.
1. Outlets
An outlet is any place that takes orders and settles its own bills: a restaurant, a bar, a pool bar, a lounge. Add each one. Pricing is per outlet, so a hotel with a restaurant and a bar has two.
2. Sections and tables
Group tables into sections the way your staff talk about them, for example Inside, Terrace and Poolside. Waiters see tables grouped this way.
3. Your menu
Add categories (Drinks, Spirits, Food, Snacks), then items with their prices. Add option groups where guests choose, such as protein for jollof rice or ice for a Chapman. An option can add to the price, for example fish instead of chicken.
4. Kitchen and bar
Choose where each category is sent: food to the kitchen, drinks to the bar. If you use thermal printers, add them by network address. Innix shows an error at the till if a ticket fails to print.
With the Simple setup, tickets show on the order screen and you do not need a separate kitchen screen.
5. Staff
Invite waiters, bar staff and kitchen staff. Kitchen staff only ever see tickets, with no prices. See Add staff and choose their roles.
6. First order
Open a table, add items, tap Send, then Bill and choose how the guest paid. Three taps from an open table to a settled bill.
